OrionNet Systems shut phones off and closed its doors this morning to attend today’s Rally at the State Capital. Thousands of Oklahomans joined together at the State Capital in hopes of saving Mental Health and Substance Abuse Outpatient Services. During last week’s press conference, providers were notified that all outpatient services will be cut on November 1st 2017. Terri White, Commissioner of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services said, “There’s no option left but to cut state funding for all outpatient services in order to fill her agency’s $75 million shortfall.” Everyone who serves in the field of mental health knows the devastation this can have on our state. After the press conference last week the mental health community pulled together and spread word to Rally at the Capital to “Save Our Services.” OrionNet Systems informed members late last week the office would be closing to join efforts to Rally at the Capital. Clyde Wafford, President of OrionNet Systems stated, “I really think we need to be there to support the Mental Health and Addiction services and the people of this state. The OrionNet team joined together and carpooled to the Rally. Thousands showed up at the capital to show there support and let there voices be heard. As the inside filled to capacity they moved the rally outdoors. Several speakers gave encouragement to speak to legislators and come up with a plan to help keep our services.
