In the last few weeks Medicaid Fraud has been become a realization to many Oklahoman's. For many it is hard to believe people would even attempt to take advantage of a system that is already in financial crisis. Medicaid Fraud is real and the State of Oklahoma is cracking down. Several Oklahoman's have been accused with submitting illegal billing claims to the state and other deceptive practices that investigators say cost the state thousands of dollars for services not rendered or performed or were not licensed for providing.

As stated by Channel 4 news, Federal authorities claim they abused the Medicare and Medicaid system, but the real victims are some of Oklahoma's most vulnerable patients.

"In some instances these were children who were receiving counseling services and actually weren't receiving them," Deputy Attorney General Abby Dillsaver said. "Other cases you're dealing with the elderly. So it is an abuse of the relationship as well as the actual public funds that are being used for their own private benefit."

If convicted, those involved can face multiple felony charges, thousands in fines and several years in prison.
