OrionNet Systems deployed the
ICD-10 updates to their ThinkHealth Practice Management software on Thursday and
Friday of this week, August 27-28, 2015. The company’s members will have access
to these updates a month before the October 1st transition has to
take place.
In the October 1st
transition, the codes used to submit to Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue
Shield, and virtually all other insurers will change to ICD-10. Every
diagnostic code currently used by therapists will become instantly
obsolete. Patient charges submitted
after October 1 with the outdated ICD-9 codes will be returned unpaid. Therapists
will either adapt to the new coding system or not receive payment.
“The updates we’ve deployed
to ThinkHealth are designed to make this transition seamless but we still want
to give everyone enough time to be comfortable with the changes,” said Clyde Wafford,
president of OrionNet Systems. “If it’s not right for our members, it’s not
right for our software.”
To better serve their
members, the company also held ICD-10 training for their members to go over how
the transition will affect them and the best methods to handle billing issues.
For agencies starting the
process from scratch, try these questions on all vendors:
- Will your products be ready for ICD-10
compliance?
- How does your product simplify my organization's
transition to ICD-10?
- How does the functionality offered by your system
compare with my current system?
The OrionNet Systems’ support
team will be contacting each and every one of their member agencies to make
sure they know how to fix and reconcile their ICD-9 to ICD-10 just in case.
“This is a very tricky update,”
said Clyde Wafford. “But I know our members will bear with us because they know
we will help them get ready for October 1st. They don’t have to
worry. It’s that simple.”
